Baterbys & The Threshold
Center For Autism

“Every child has a God-given ability to learn”, were the words of Teena Willard, founder of the Orlando-based organization, Threshold Center for Autism. Established more than 20 years ago, the organization has been “attacking autism at its most responsive time” by building the Threshold Academy where parents with autistic children are accommodated with state of the art diagnostic and treatment programs along with other resources to meet the unique challenges of the family.

According to Dr. Bob Wright, President and CEO of Threshold, their vision is to be a place where these affected families can discover and explored innovative means to battle and overcome autism. Their mission is to continually develop their practices to ensure the children with long and healthy lives.

Baterbys Art Auction Gallery is proud to be one of Threshold’s partners in making this vision come a pervading reality. Last February 7, the entire buyer’s premium of the quarterly live auction was donated to the organization. From the sale of beautiful and rare art pieces, children’s lives will be redirected to a brighter road ahead. There is no better way of relishing the exquisiteness of art than to share the inspiration it produces with families affected by autism.

The Key To Hope, Health and Happiness
Threshold has been the place to turn to for parents with autistic children for more than thirty years. Twenty three years ago we started the Threshold Academy so that we could attack autism at its most responsive time … early childhood. Autism and related disorders affect the entire family, including the parents and the siblings. The Threshold Center for Autism addresses the needs of the individual with state of art diagnostic and treatment programs along with providing resources to meet the unique challenges for the family.

Threshold Center For Autism
For more than forty years Threshold's founder has served the needs of parents and children with disabilities. The children of the 70's are now middle age and in many instances they still require significant support. For these past four decades every parent has asked two questions surrounded by dozens of others. The two fundamental questions are, "What is available for my child today?" and "What is going to happen to my child when I die?" Our vision is to be the place where parents can have these two questions answered. Children do not "age out" of Threshold at 18.

Children are never too severe for our staff to work with. We do not intend to "age" people out when they turn 60 or older. In short Threshold is a place for life. Threshold for the life of our parents through training programs and support, Threshold for the life of our employees for consistency is important for our clients and Threshold for the life of our clients whether they are 8 months or 80 years. Our programs are designed to grow and change with our families.
