Baterbys Partners with UCP

The social construct is never a perfect picture. Each year, millions of children are born with disabilities and developmental delays like Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, speech and hearing delays, and many others.

Baterbys contributes to changing this scenario by partnering with UCP of Central Florida. UCP offers a broad range of specialized services for more than 2,300 children up to age 21. They provide support, education and therapy in their six locations throughout Central Florida.

If we are to truly appreciate the beauty of experiencing life through relishing art, we must cease to live only for ourselves and open our minds and hearts to the persisting realities that seem to discolor our society. What is art in the first place? Isn’t it simply the celebration and immortalization of life’s experiences?

Like all great stories, the story of United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Florida began with a simple goal: offering hope to kids. Discovering that very few options outside of institutions existed for children with cerebral palsy, this group of parents began a small program. And it started to grow...

Letter From UCP To Baterbys
Dear Baterbys,

UCP of Central Florida's Book Bud event was a huge success this year, all thanks to you! Thirty-nine community members used their best story-telling voices to get involved and show their support at all six of our centers.

Through your readings and interaction, you helped plant the seed of literacy in each child and enhance their speech and comprehension abilities. Your support and enthusiasm is sincerely appreciated.

The work we do and all of our success stories are made possible through the community's support and kindness. Thank you for being a part of our ongoin mission to give each child a chance to reach for the stars, no matter their ability.

Sincerely,

Ilene Wilkins
President/CEO
