Why Donate To Caver Middle School?
Maybe you haven't heard, but Carver Middle School has been making big changes, undergoing a "Quiet Storm" of change. The Carver Bash fundraising efforts will help provide educational enhancements, scholarships and academic recognition programs for the students at Carver Middle School. You can be a part of this "Quiet Storm" through sponsorship, donations of live and silent auction items, and attendance at this fun and casual event to be held at Rosen Shingle Creek, Friday, May 8, 2009.
Who Is Carver Middle?
Carver Middle is a Title I School with 88% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. Last year we improved our school grade, designated from the state each year, from a "D" to a "C". This was achieved with considerable effort on the part of administration, teachers, parents, students and staff. In our efforts to continue this improvement and become an "A" school, we are launching a new program of community and parents involvement.
Carver Middle School is the only middle school in Orange County offering 8th grade students the opportunity to visit college campuses outside of Orange County twice a year. "The Value of Education Program," at Carver not only provides students with the opportunity to experience life as a student at an institution of higher learning. It also provides students with valuable information about financial aid, income comparisons, entrance requirements, scholarships and mentoring.
Carver Middle is home to the Middle Years International Baccalaureate Program. The MYIB Program encourages students to be active learnings, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens.
Carver's "Phoenix Scholarship," provides two $1500 college scholarships. The scholarships are rewarded to one graduating Jones or Evans High School student who attended Carver Middle and one high achieving 8th grade students who will be a first generation college student.
Our Renaissance program encourages students to achieve and excel, through respect, recognition, reinforcement and rewards. Students maintaining a grade point average of 2.8 or above and zero level 2 or higher referrals are rewarded with a day celebration and given the opportunity to win prizes. The program continues to expand every year, with more students improving their grades and behavior.
