Threshold Center for Autism provides care for adults and children with autism and other related developmental disabilities. According to Dr. Bob Wright, President and CEO of Threshold, their vision is to be a place where affected families can discover and explore innovative means to battle and overcome autism. Their mission, for more than 30 years, has been to continually develop their practices to ensure the children with long and healthy lives.
Threshold provides numerous resources to adults and children struggling with Autism. Their programs include: In-Home assistance- Threshold’s in-home design/build programs are managed by general contractors and architects licensed to both evaluate and modify the home or office to meet the safety needs of the child or family member. Medical Assistance- Threshold Health Systems, Inc. offers a full range of pediatric and internal medicine services to meet the needs of the family and individual patients seeking a "Medical Home." The approach of this organization is one which uses a team approach starting with early diagnosis and early intervention. Physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral professionals, psychologists, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, speech and hearing specialists, as well as dieticians combine their talents and skills to ensure that each child has the best opportunity for success.
Baterbys wants to ensure success for children with autism and therefore partners with Threshold. On February 7, 2009 Baterbys held a live auction on behalf of Threshold, and the entirety of the buyer's premium from each sale was donated to the organization. This is what the center had to say, "The Art Auction was amazing and we are so appreciative of how Baterbys involved us in your event and has embraced our cause at Threshold Center. We also want to thank you for being an ambassador of Threshold, Inc., by telling others about our clients and the services we provide."

More than 50 years ago a group of parents wanted to offer hope to kids with cerebral palsy. The group of parents started a small program in a remodeled house on Colonial Drive, this program provided an Early Intervention classroom and therapy services for children. In 1980, thanks to the generosity of Jack Holloway (founder of ABC Fine Wine and Spirits) and some of his friends, UCP moved to a larger facility on South Orange Avenue and began serving children with all disabilities and developmental delays, including Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, speech and hearing delays, and many others.
Today, UCP has a unique program that provides an environment for children and families to learn and grow. More than 2,400 children receive all the services they need in one place: S- Support- family support, training, counseling and recreational services. The E- Education program includes: pre-k Charter School, Middle School Charter School, home early intervention, before and after school care, and an inclusion program for children with and without disabilities. And T- Therapy involves physical, speech, occupational, and music therapy.
Baterbys sees value in the efforts of UCP endeavors and has sought to enhance their efforts by donating funds and hosting benefit auctions. This is why in March of 2009 Baterbys donated auctioneer services and art to the organization's 16th annual gala. 600 people attended the gala, 63 tables were sold, and over $200,000 was raised. Ilene E. Wilkins, President and CEO of UCP, said, "Given the current economy, UCP's families, staff, and volunteers are overwhelmed by the generosity of the gala sponsors and guests and their confidence in the tremendous impact UCP's expert care has on the lives of over 2,300 children with special needs in our community."

Amy had leukemia and her one wish was to visit the Orlando theme parks. One hotelier made an effort to have Amy's wish realized. Yet, Amy's travel plans took too long to arrange and her wish never came true when she passed away. This unfulfilled wish inspired the hotelier to make a vow that no child in need would ever be failed again. This man was Henri Landwirth and is the founder of Give Kids the World.
Give Kids the World has welcomed more than 93,000 families from all 50 states and over 65 countries. This non-profit organization exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village for as long as there is a need. The Village is a 70-acre resort complete with over 100 Villa accommodations, entertainment attractions, whimsical venues, and fun specifically designed for children with special needs.
In the hope of sustaining this worthwhile cause, Baterbys Art Auction Gallery partnered with Give Kids The World on May 2, 2009 by providing them with auctioneering services for their annual fundraising gala. A significant percentage of all bids – the entire buyer’s premium – was donated to the organization during the auction.
