Women in ART: Undeniable figures who changed the face of beauty then and now
Up until the modernization of society in the 20th century, women artists have not gained as much attention and acclamation under the limelight as their male counterparts. Society's traditional thinking kept them obscure and at times, even shunned and disdained by art dealers and publishers, cultural purveyors and the general public . Conventional culture dictated that women are meant to be dutiful homemakers, faithful wives, loving mothers and therefore must be uninvolved in "larger matters" of politics, arts and sciences. After the World War II and the industrialization period, people came to realize that women do have a role to play in these fields. Gradually, as more women rose to power, fame and influence in several sectors, they gained the respect and honor due their talents and determination. This month, Baterbys shines the spotlight on women artists from different backgrounds, time periods and artistic experiences who all possess the same sheer determination to share their passion and vision with the world. Some of them have faded with the passage of time, while some are currently on the verge of massive recognition. Nonetheless, their lives and art depict the strength of their character, the genius of their creative prowess and the beauty of their inner will. In lieu of this celebration, special promos and discounts are offered this month for artworks by women artists. Any purchase of a work by a woman artist entitles a purchase of another framed artwork at 70% of its retail value*. There will also be "dossier displays" in our Orlando and Palm Beach locations which will allow gallery guests and clients to discover triumphant stories and momentous achievements that marked the lives of artists like Leonor Fini, Alice Neel, Elena Bond, Jane Wooster-Scott and Joanne Netting amongst others. > Contact the gallery consultants about this month's theme, Women in Art & our special offers |
