With Orlando Fashion Week just around the corner, I’d like to pay tribute to the artists behind the industry: The Fashion Designers.

It is not easy breaking into any industry. However, the fashion industry seems to be the most terrifying. Even the famous model Heidi Klum lets us know the harsh realities of the fashion industry with her quote “One day you’re in, and the next day you’re out.” Celebrate with us one of the great designers who will never go out of style!

Here at Baterbys we are lucky to have prints by one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century: Erté. Though his given name was Romain de Tirtoff, he was given the nickname Erté because of the French pronunciation of his initials. He was born and brought up in St. Petersburg but he reached the peak of his fame once he traveled to Paris. The designer was famous for the Art Deco style he incorporated into his many talents. Besides being a fashion designer he was also an artist involved in jewelry, costumes, opera sets, posters, and prints. Erté’s illustrations were published in Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, Illustrated London News, Cosmopolitan, Ladies’ Home Journal, and Vogue.

Take a look at some of the great designs he created!
