The first artist, William Vincent Kirkpatrick, expressed subtle shift in color and light using thick and short Impressionistic brushstrokes. He skillfully melded Impressionism with influences from artistic styles and landscapes of the American West. Similarly, the Franco-American artist Duaiv uses impressionist techniques to capture the pure essence of his subjects. He paints with vibrant colors to creatively capture places as he imagines them. The final artist, Elena Bond, utilizes quick smearing brushstrokes like the Impressionists but applies them more thickly and aggressively. From a distance, these brushstrokes coalesce into a clear, picturesque image. Viewers will be able to witness the different ways in which these three artists reinterpret Impressionism to suit their own modern artistic sensibilities.
Modern Impressionists will be on display from May 8th through June 20th. Visitors to the exhibition will have the unique opportunity to see a collection of newly acquired works by William Vincent Kirkpatrick that have not been on view before. Featured works by Duaiv and Bond include original oils on canvas and paper, and their varied mixed-media pieces. All the works on display will be available for purchase.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. Visitors will be entered into a free raffle to win a framed lithograph by William Vincent Kirkpatrick. Art buyers will also be entered into a raffle to win a set of 3 hardbound books on each of the artists, and a gallery-wrapped giclee on canvas.
