For many of those who love the art of Peter Max, his paintings may seem beyond reach in execution. If you are feeling creative and would like to try your hand at making a painting in the style of Max, there are several suggestions that I can give to emulate his style! Before you know it, you will have your very own artwork to accompany your Peter Max art.
Use mason jars and a large brush.
Peter Max paints by pouring brightly colored paints into mason jars and dipping his paint brush from one pigment to the next. Applying the paint to the canvas in this style will create his famous rainbow strokes that appear in all of his paintings.
Listen to music!
Max employs a full time DJ in his studio to keep his creativity flowing. This will help you focus and influence the style of the paintings you create.
Paint what you love.
There is not a single painting that Max claims to have created that he does not love. They are all unique and special in their own way, and they all are moments in the life of the artist. Painting what you love is a sure way of knowing that you will find enjoyment in the process as well as the final result.
