Trevor Green did not become a full time painter until he was 54 but spent his entire life teaching and studying art. He studied at the Leeds College of Art and became a teacher, he bounced between different teaching positions and graphic design work most of his life with the occasional commission. Trevor paints in watercolors and acrylics; having discovered in the 1960s that he was allergic to oil paint, he quickly adapted to acrylic, regarding it as a uniquely versatile medium. His subject matters vary from landscape, seascape, figurative and architectural studies. He seeks to explore the visual effects of the seasons and the relationship between man and his environment.
Depicted in this piece are some sailboats just off shore from a pristine beach. The deep blue of the sea contrasts beautifully with the clouds and lighter portion of the sky. The split colored sky looks as if a storm is rolling in and is skillfully painted.
