This is an original lithograph after a Matisse blue nude paper cut-out. This print was created for a special edition of the literary magazine Verve dedicated to the last works of Matisse. The six disparate pieces of paper coalesce into both the outline and form of a nude figure. Matisse was able to create a new technique of painting with scissors.
Henri Matisse is well-regarded as the master of color of the 20th century. He was a versatile artist who created paintings, sculptures, and works on paper.
